Ravencoin Faces 3-Day Rollback Risk After Critical Exploit

Ravencoin confirmed today, August 11, 2026, on social media platform X that it is currently facing a deep chain reorganization after a critical consensus vulnerability was exploited on its network. This led to vulnerable nodes to accept invalid blocks. The first known invalid block appeared at height 4,487,776 on August 7, 2026 and mining pools 2miners, and RavenMiner are now building a substitute chain that excludes the affected block.

If this substitute chain gains autonomy, Ravencoin network will have to rollback approximately three days of transactions. The network has urged exchanges to temporarily suspend RVN deposits and withdrawals, and treat transactions confirmed after block 4,487,775 as risk.

Ravencoin Advises Transactions Could be Reversed

Ravencoin stated that the consensus vulnerability was detected and exploited on the mainnet. After this incident, invalid blocks were accepted by a weak node. Similar invalid blocks also appeared to have been produced by other exploiters. The affected chain started at block 4,487,776, mined at 15:44:01 UTC on August 7. Since 2miners and RavenMiner hold a majority of RavenCoin’s network hash rate, their choice to mine a chain that excludes the exploited branch could facilitate which chain becomes canonical.

As stated above, If this substitute chain gains autonomy, the reorganization could affect three days of transactions on the current chain. Ravencoin said it asked the mining pools to consider a more recent recovery point to reduce the consumer impact service and exchanges, but the request was declined. The network has therefore asked that exchanges temporarily suspend RVN deposits and withdrawals until all goes back to normal.

Transactions confirmed after block 4,487,775 should be considered at risk, with some potentially returning to mempool and needing confirmation again. The network also advised exchanges not to assume that reversed double drawers or deposits will reappear or confirm positively. The potential rollback creates an operational risk for users, exchanges, and other services that depend on the recent Ravencoin confirmation. Till the time the chain is not back to normal, users have been advised to avoid depending on recent confirmation for transactions.

Growing Market Concerns Over Ravencoin Rollback

The possibility of a reorganization has managed to raise concerns across the Ravencoin ecosystem. One of the X users described this incident“as a more serious one than a normal exploit. It indicates the risk that transactions confirmed during the time period could be invalidated, relying on which chain becomes canonical.”

Exchanges and mining services have acted upon the warning issued by Ravencoin and have suspended their services for the time being. For example, Upbit has labeled RVN as a risky asset. A mining platform, Unmineable, announced that Kawpow mining would be delisted from its platform on August 11 at 01:00 UTC because of the ambiguity around Ravencoin network and exchange support.

The platform advised Kawpow miners to switch to another supported algorithm, while RVN mining through other algorithms will remain feasible. However, payouts will remain halted until the Ravencoin is considered normal. Their other chain could therefore play a bigger role in determining the final chain state. A drawn-out disagreement over the chain should be considered and could increase ambiguity for miners, users, and exchanges.

The network has highlighted that this notice should not be interpreted as endorsing a rollback, chain selection, or recovery plan. For now, the key issue remains which chain ultimately becomes canonical and what will occur to the transactions recorded during the period affected by the vulnerability exploit.

The immediate task for Ravencoin is to establish a clear canonical chain until then exchanges suspending deposits and withdrawals can limit the risk of users receiving or sending RVN-based transactions that could later be reversed. The situation also leaves miners and users facing uncertainty over how long normal activity will be affected. The proposed reorganization is more complicated than a typical blockchain rollback. Therefore, the final decision becomes extremely important for those transactions made after the risky block.

For now, Ravencoin users should receive transactions with caution while exchanges and mining pools oversee the competing chains. The network’s recovery path will determine whether the affected transactions remain permanent or are rolled back as part of the plan.
