Cardano Foundation CTO to Exit Amid Cardano’s Injective Link

Cardano Foundation is starting a new chapter as the organization gets ready for a shift in technical leadership and puts efforts to connect its blockchain with others. The Foundation announced today August 10, 2026, that Giorgio Zinetti, its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since 2024, will leave on August 31.

Zinetti confirmed this, saying he’ll step down at the end of August after 2.5 years as a CTO for Cardano Foundation. In an X post, he reflected on his time at the Foundation, feeling proud of what was achieved and grateful for the team around him.

This leadership change happens as Cardano is making progress with blockchain connectivity. Cardano officially connected to Injective through IBC in testnet this week, opening a live route between the two blockchain ecosystems and letting test Cardano’s ADA and test INJ flow between them. Cardano’s push for interoperability is now happening alongside its internal leadership transition, but the Foundation made it clear that their focus on enterprise adoption isn’t changing.

Giorgio Zinetti to Leave Cardano Foundation

The Cardano Foundation says Giorgio Zinetti will leave his CTO role on August 31. The organization thanked him for his support and major impact since he joined as CTO in 2024. Zinetti’s own statement gave more insight into the timing. After 2.5 years, he’ll leave at the end of August but isn’t jumping right into a new job. First, he’s taking some time off to welcome his daughter. He hinted that his time away will be followed by another chapter, saying “a new adventure starts in September”, but leaving out any details about what’s next.

His post on X was more focused on his experience with the Foundation, the speed at which time flew, and pride in what’s been built. He said that this departure is nothing but a transition to the next stage of both his career and family life. Meanwhile, the Foundation is working on its plans to move forward and the company’s board and executive team will keep working with technical and senior business development leaders.

Cardano Connects With Injective Through IBC

While the Foundation prepares for a CTO change, the ADA blockchain has also managed to reach a new milestone by connecting with another blockchain. Injective announced Cardano’s official connection to its network through IBC in testnet. It’s the first live onchain IBC route linking Cardano to another blockchain, letting test ADA and test INJ move across both systems.

During testnet, this connection gives a direct bridge between Cardano and Injective. Injective pointed out that the Cardano Foundation published verified transaction links and a step-by-step guide showing how to move test ADA to Injective.

Cardano’s new connection was just one of several updates highlighted by Injective this week. They also announced Injective’s launch on LI.FI Protocol, making it possible for users to bridge, swap, and deposit native USDC and INJ across both native and EVM environments, with routes covering more than 60 chains. Injective also said it permanently removed 27,400 INJ from circulation with its latest Community BuyBack.

Moreover, HackQuest also finished the Injective Global Cup, where 127 developers spent 24 days building AI-powered World Cup experiences using Injective’s developer stack. Zealy Season 2 launched with a monthly reward pool of over 1,000 INJ, divided up based on the quality and impact of participant contributions.

So, Cardano’s latest cycle is shaped by two major developments: Zinetti’s exit from the Foundation at the end of August, with its leadership team saying their work toward enterprise adoption will continue, and Cardano’s connection with Injective, marking another step in linking up with the wider blockchain world. As for Zinetti’s next chapter, it’s still unknown except for his hint about a “new adventure” starting in September. For the Foundation, the key takeaway is steady progress as Cardano builds new connections and pushes forward, even beyond its own ecosystem.
