Laser Digital Rolls Out Tokenized BTC Fund Targeting 5% Returns

Nomura’s digital asset subsidiary, Laser Digital, has launched a new tokenized Bitcoin yield fund targeting about 5% in annual returns. As per reports, the fund aims to generate income through a combination of long Bitcoin exposure, market-neutral arbitrage, lending, and options trading.

Reportedly, the BTC Diversified Yield Fund SP is the inaugural Cayman Islands-based tokenization Bitcoin yield vehicle. It is operated with KAIO as its tokenization provider and Komainu as custodian. Building on the firm’s earlier Bitcoin Adoption Fund, accredited investors in eligible jurisdictions could participate with a minimum of a $250k investment.

Laser Digital Unveils First Cayman-Based Tokenized BTC Fund

Laser Digital, Nomura’s crypto subsidiary, has announced the introduction of a new tokenized investment fund on January 22, 2026. This tokenized Bitcoin fund intends to generate income from BTC holdings as the firm considers the pioneer asset as a long-term store of value.

According to the company’s official statement, the BTC Diversified Yield Fund SP seeks to deliver approximately 5% in annual returns. This is estimated based on the cryptocurrency’s price performance.

Notably, Laser Digital stated that the fund is an upgraded version of the company’s already existing Bitcoin Adoption Fund. It was earlier launched in 2023 as the first Cayman Islands-based Bitcoin yield fund to be fully tokenized. As noted by Jez Mohideen, the co-founder and CEO of the platform, the Bitcoin fund launch allows the company to maintain its position and “capitalize on the next phase of DeFi, while servicing the needs of bitcoin holders as well as existing and new institutional investors entering the market.” He added,

“Recent market volatility has shown that yield-bearing, market neutral funds built on calculated DeFi strategies are the natural evolution of crypto asset management.”

Bitcoin Positioned as a Mainstream Institutional Asset

Significantly, Laser Digital’s launch of the tokenization Bitcoin yield fund aligns with the growing influence of BTC among large institutions. Driven by the cryptocurrency’s price movements and its potential as a safe-haven asset, more companies are exploring its possibilities.

For instance, companies like Michael Saylor’s Strategy, previously known as MicroStrategy, are establishing their own Bitcoin reserves. Strategy is the largest public holder of BTC, currently boasting nearly 710k coins. Although there were speculations around Strategy’s Bitcoin sell-off, the company continues to accumulate more coins.

According to Laser Digital, the Bitcoin fund launch underscores the crypto’s growing role as a mainstream institutional asset. While the global economy is currently plagued by macroeconomic uncertainty, inflation, and rising correlations across traditional assets, investors are looking for diverse investment options. They see risky assets like Bitcoin as a safe haven asset. Laser Digital Asset Management Head Sebastian Guglietta stated,

“Bitcoin – a store of capital, is a decentralized hard money backed by energy, like gold. But unlike fiat currencies or stablecoins, it doesn’t provide a yield. Our fund strategy addresses this by seeking to offer a sustainable yield for long-term Bitcoin holders.”

With the fund, Laser Digital intends to transform passive BTC allocation into a more efficient investment option. The company intends to allow institutions to capture upside potential while producing a steady income stream.
