Fusaka Upgrade Revealed: 2025 Q4 Could Be Historic For Ethereum

The countdown for the final quarter of 2025 has begun, and Ethereum is gearing up for what could be a monumental period in its history. With the Fusaka upgrade on the horizon and a promising technical setup, Ether’s price is poised to make significant progress in the near term.

The Fusaka update promises to bring critical improvements to the Ethereum network, and its inclusion in the calendar has quelled speculation about its potential delays. With multiple testnet runs planned for October, developers and infrastructure providers will have ample time to adjust before mainnet activation, ensuring a smoother transition.

Fusaka Upgrade Set for December

In a significant move, Ethereum core developers have set a tentative launch schedule for the highly anticipated Fusaka upgrade, targeting mainnet activation on December 3. Although the draft timeline is still subject to final confirmation, it marks significant progress towards one of Ethereum’s most substantial technical upgrades. The rollout will begin with staged testnet upgrades, starting with Holesky on October 1, followed by Sepolia on October 14, Hoodi on October 28. If these testnet rehearsals proceed without issues, the changes will be ready for deployment on Ethereum’s main network in December.

Christine Kim, former research vice president at Galaxy Digital, posited that the developers would continue refining dates, epochs, and timing over the upcoming weeks. She added,

“They also agreed that based on some preliminary analysis on Fusaka Devnet-5, blob capacity should more than double over the two weeks following Fusaka activation.”

Key Details

Interestingly, the Fusaka upgrade is a significant milestone for Ethereum, building on the Pectra upgrade. It introduces 11 proposals aimed at enhancing scalability, node stability, and validator performance. One of the key features is PeerDAS, which improves data availability sampling and spam control. Others include increased blob capacity and higher gas limit.

These updates are significantly designed to reduce Layer 2 rollup costs and increase transaction enhancements like faster block times and Verkle tree integration. Preliminary testing on Devnet-5 has shown promising results, with blob capacity expected to increase significantly after activation.

As per reports, the Fusaka will arrive just seven months after the Pectra upgrade, which introduced significant improvements, including wallet enhancements and an increased validator limit for more efficient staking. This follows the Dencan upgrade in March 2024, which enabled blob transactions and boosted L2 scalability, making Ethereum faster, cheaper, and more scalable.

ETH Price Dips Despite Fusaka Upgrade Announcement

Despite this strategic announcement, the ETH price has seen a notable decline, sparking concerns. At press time, ETH is valued at $4,474, down 2.83% in a day. While ETH saw a decline of 1.36% over the past week, it surged by about 5% in a month.

This negative trend is also reflected in the traders’ sentiment as the 24-hour trading volume plummeted by a massive 35% to reach $31.33 billion.

A Historic Q4 Ahead?

Despite the current downturn, analysts remain optimistic about the Ethereum token’s potential performance in 2025 Q4. In a recent X post, analyst Ash Crypto wrote, “Q4 Gonna massive” for ETH.

Presenting a chart analysis, he underscored the largest cryptocurrency’s potential bull run. Identifying the formation of a symmetrical triangle on the chart, he added that the crypto is poised for a bullish breakout, targeting $5 and even $6.4.
