HEX Founder Backs ETH Over BTC Amid Crypto Market Crash

HEX Founder Richard Heart has stirred debate in the crypto community by asserting that Ethereum is better than Bitcoin. On the X platform, he shared his views earlier today, commenting that he prefers ETH over BTC as an investment option amid the current crypto market crash. He cited Ether’s technical potential and adoption curve as reasons it could surpass BTC.

According to Heart, Bitcoin has reached the mature stage of its growth, with most users already on board and little room for new adoption. He argues that other cryptocurrencies, like Ethereum, offer more opportunity for growth, while the BTC price is driven more by marketing and market sentiment than utility.

Bitcoin vs Ethereum Amid Crypto Market Crash

As the crypto market is currently facing one of its steepest downturns, experts are weighing in on which cryptocurrency is the best. While all digital assets are currently facing severe losses, with the leading players like Bitcoin and Ethereum struggling to hold key levels, a heated debate is taking place about them.

According to HEX founder Richard Heart, Bitcoin’s growth and adoption among new users have slowed despite its long-held status as a store of value. He argues that the pioneer crypto has reached a mature stage, making big gains harder to achieve.

His statement on X comes amid the sustained negative trend of Bitcoin in the broader crypto market crash. Currently, the crypto market is going through one of its largest collapses. The total market cap is now at $2.26 trillion, even below the levels seen during the massive October 2025 crypto market crash.

Amid this broader crypto market crash, almost all the cryptocurrencies are facing increased pressure. Bitcoin and Ethereum are also facing notable plummets, resulting in significant losses. As of press time, BTC is trading at $65,991, down by 5.6% in a day, 20% in a week, and 28% in a month. At the same time, ETH is valued at $1,926, plummeting by more notable percentages. While the altcoin is down by about 7% in a day, it has fallen by 29% and 40% over the past week and month, respectively.

Amid this crypto market crash, Heart sees Ethereum as a better investment option than BTC. He believes that Ethereum offers more room for growth. With a flexible platform that supports smart contracts and decentralized applications, Ethereum has strong technical potential and continues to attract new users.

While Bitcoin’s price often moves with market sentiment, Ethereum’s evolving technology could provide more opportunities for long-term adoption and innovation. He wrote,

“I’ve been telling you Bitcoin was at the top of its S curve for several years now. Which means that, if you want to make mad gains, you might want to buy something better, with more potential…Ethereum is better. PLSX, HEX, and ProveX, when it comes out have, more potential as well.”

Richard Heart is not alone in this BTC vs ETH debate. Previously, BitMine CEO Tom Lee stated that Ethereum is poised to surpass Bitcoin’s market share, like the US stocks overtook gold. He noted, “Ethereum could flip Bitcoin similar to how Wall Street and equities flipped gold post 71.”
